Ross-shire Pony Club Success

Three Ross-Shire girls made the long journey to Cheshire last weekend with their horses to take part in the Pony Club National Show Jumping and Eventing Championships, which feature the leading young riders in Britain and the breeding ground from which many of our current international riders have come from.

Ellie MacDonald(15)from Invergordon riding her horse Harley competed in the Open Section of the Show Jumping phase; Elise Hendry(19)from Culbokie riding her horse Daffy and Erin Donnelly(15) from Dingwall competed in the Eventing phase, which featured the three discipline’s of Dressage, Show jumping and Cross Country. The girls earned their places at the National finals by winning their respective sections at the Scottish Area Qualifier Event held at Burgie in July.

All girls performed extremely creditably but finished outside the prize winners; Elise was particularly unlucky having been placed first following the Dressage and Show jumping phases an unfortunate fall at a water jump during the Cross Country Section cost her dear in terms of penalties albeit Elise had remounted and shown the grit and determination to finish the Course.
